Recruitment Timeline
Unfortunately due to adverse weather conditions, some of the dates detailed in the timeline below may be subject to change. We will contact you if the date and time of your tests or interview need to be altered. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. The following timelines have been put in place for each stage of the Firefighter Recruitment Campaign 2009/2010.
We hope this information assists candidates in planning should they be successful throughout the process. It will also provide you with details of when each stage is scheduled and when you can expect to find out if you have been successful.
Please note –
- Although we will endeavour to adhere to these timelines, some dates may be subject to change.
- Candidates must be successful at each stage before progressing to the next.
Application Form
Application forms are available between Wednesday 4 and Monday 9 November 2009. You can access a form by visiting the Application Form Registration page.
Closing date for submission of completed application forms is Monday 16 November 2009 at 17:00 hours.
Please note late applications will not be accepted.
You should be notified if you have been successful in your application. Due to the large volume of applications, we regret that we are unable to contact candidates unsuccessful at this stage of the selection process.
If you have not been contacted by 7 December 2009 please consider your application unsuccessful.
Written Tests
For candidates successful at the application stage, written tests will be held between Monday 7 and Saturday 12 December 2009.
Written tests will be held at the Bede Centre in Sunderland and at Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service HQ. If you require any reasonable adjustments to be made at this stage you should contact the recruitment team to discuss your requirements.

You should be notified by Monday 4 January 2010 if you have been successful/unsuccessful at this stage, you will also receive a personal feedback report detailing your test results.
Role Related Tests
For candidates successful at written tests, role-related tests will be held between Friday 8 January and Friday 22 January 2010.

You should be notified by Monday 1 February 2010 if you have been successful/unsuccessful at this stage.
Interviews
For candidates successful at role-related tests, interviews will be held between Thursday 4 February and Friday 26 February 2010.
Unfortunately due to the high volume of candidates alternative dates will not be available.
You should be notified by the end of March 2010 if you were successful/unsuccessful at interview.
Feedback
We are happy to provide feedback to candidates at any stage of the recruitment process. Requests for feedback should be made in writing or by emailing frsne@twfire.gov.uk before 30 June 2010.
Please note that feedback requests will not be actioned until the end of the recruitment process.
